Day 8 - 357 Days to Go!

Happy Friday!!!

There is a lot going on in the Dallas area currently, so traffic is wild! Today is the opening day of the State Fair of Texas, which alone creates a lot of chaos. Add to that the huge SMU vs. TCU game at Ford Stadium on SMU's campus (FILL THE FORD!!! Too bad it didn't matter if it was full with excited SMU fans...we lost) and of course, the DSO Beethoven concert downtown in the Meyerson.

That being said, today's picture is a shot of downtown as we were driving in. Once we got past SMU's campus and all of the crazy sidewalk-walking tailgaters, downtown really wasn't all that bad.

Our friend Kevin joined us and introduced us to Potbelly's (which was delicious!) and then we headed to the Meyerson. The concert was great! Charlie really likes Beethoven's Seventh, which is one of the pieces that was performed. The house was packed!

Following the concert, we went to a small pub called The Gingerman to enjoy a brew. There were several SMU fans there, watching the game on ESPN! ESPN, really?! We had no idea that the game would be airing on a major sports network. Way cool. Still, we lost. Boo. While a few minutes were still on the clock, Kevin said, "So, I don't know what you guys think about trying to drop me off back on campus..." and we were like, "UH OH! We better get going!" Once we got close to campus, most of the stadium was empty and all of the fans were once again all over the sidewalks and in the streets. It was a mess! But we dropped Kevin off and got home safe and sound -- much slower than usual. :)

I will never get sick of nights like this, no matter how bad the traffic is.
